SATKHIRA, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - Import and export activities at the Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira will remain suspended for 10 days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, officials said.
According to port authorities, all commercial operations between Bangladesh and India through the port will remain closed from Wednesday, March 18, and will resume on Saturday, March 28, marking the Eid holidays.
Abu Musa, General Secretary of the Bhomra Land Port C&F Association, said that the decision to halt trade activities was taken jointly by stakeholders from both countries.
The agreement was reached after discussions between the Bhomra Customs C&F Association and India’s Ghojadanga Port C&F Agent Cargo Welfare Association.
Despite the suspension of import-export activities, cross-border passenger movement will continue uninterrupted.
Rasheduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Bhomra Land Port Immigration Police, said that passport holders from both Bangladesh and India will be able to travel as usual during this period.
Deputy Director of Bhomra Land Port Authority Mamun Kabir Tarafdar explained that the temporary closure is due to government holidays during Eid, which will halt the movement of goods-carrying vehicles and suspend trade operations.
