KHULNA, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - Sales of refrigerators, televisions, air conditioners and fans have risen sharply in Khulna city markets as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, driven by festive demand and rising temperatures.

Eid-ul-Fitr traditionally marks a peak sales period for home appliances, especially as temperatures begin to climb in early March.

Retailers say nearly 60 percent of their annual sales occur during this season.

Anisur Rahman, a sales executive at a showroom on KDA Avenue, said customers are taking advantage of “Eid Offer 2026,” which includes discounts on air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, washing machines and deep freezers.

He added that rising temperatures have also significantly boosted demand for cooling appliances such as ACs and refrigerators.

Manufacturers and importers have introduced attractive offers, including instant cash discounts and complimentary gifts, anticipating increased demand during the Eid season.

Amirul Islam, outlet manager of a showroom in the Dakbangla area, said customers are showing strong interest in purchasing air conditioners, particularly due to a 36-month installment facility.

He noted that the quality and affordability of products have drawn large numbers of buyers to showrooms.

Md Habibur Rahman, a sales executive at a showroom on Jashore Road, said they have made preparations to meet the surge in demand for refrigerators just days before Eid.

Naim Ahmed, a showroom manager in the Dakbangla area, said they are targeting sales of home appliances worth Tk 1.30 crore ahead of Eid. He added that most middle-income customers are purchasing refrigerators priced between Tk 40,000 and Tk 50,000, and televisions between Tk 30,000 and Tk 40,000.

A visit to several electronics showrooms on KDA Avenue showed a steady flow of customers buying appliances from both local and international brands.

Masum Hasan, a resident of Sonadanga, said he recently purchased an imported deep freezer, fulfilling a long-held wish with financial support from his son working in Malaysia.

Sithi Ahmed, from Gallamari, said she bought a deep freezer and a rechargeable fan ahead of Eid to cope with the intense heat.

Md Abdullah, a professor at Government City College, said he purchased a deep freezer and a rechargeable fan after receiving his Eid bonus, citing both the upcoming festival and rising temperatures as reasons for his purchase.
