Muslims believe that Shab-e-Qadr is a thousand times more important than ordinary nights and its significance is immense, because it was on this night that Almighty Allah revealed the Holy Quran as a complete code of life for mankind on earth.

After performing Isha and Taraweeh prayers, worshippers participated in special discussions on the occasion of this most significant night of forgiveness and good fortune in mosques across the city and the district, performed 'Nafl' prayers until Fajr prayers, and recited from the Holy Quran.

Hundreds of female worshippers also participated in Isha, Taraweeh and 'Nafl' prayers, and other religious ceremonies throughout the night in the women's section of the historic mosque.

Khatib of historical Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque Alhaj Hafiz Kwari Moulana Md Bayezid Hussaine discussed the importance of the holy night at the mosque in presence of thousands of pious Musollis of all ages.

He led special prayers, praying to Allah for the forgiveness of past sins, long life, peace, prosperity, good health and happiness of the devotees, their families and relatives, and for the eternal peace of their late parents and generations.

He also prayed for the acceptance of the fasts of Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh and the entire Muslim Ummah, and for the peace and security of the country and its people.

Most of the mosques were specifically illuminated, milad mahfils, `zikrs' were organised and `tobaraks' distributed both in the city, urban and rural areas and important places in the district.

Many worshippers stayed in the mosque all night, recited the Holy Quran, offered special 'Nafl' prayers, and visited the graveyards to seek forgiveness and eternal peace for all of their late parents, relatives and generations.

Many mosques in the city, including the historic Keramotia Jame Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jame Mosque, Jamtala Jame Mosque, Dhap Jame Mosque, Central Bus Terminal Jame Mosque, Kamal Kachhna Jame Mosque, Khasbagh Jame Mosque, Satmatha Jame Mosque, were crowded with people who stayed there all night and offered 'Nafl' prayers.
