RAJSHAHI, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, former convener of Rajshahi City BNP, has been appointed as the new administrator of Rajshahi Zila Parishad. 

A separate notification regarding the appointment was issued by the Local Government Division on Sunday (March 15). 

According to government sources, the appointment has been made with the aim of strengthening the local government system and accelerating development activities.

The news of veteran leader Ershad Ali Isha becoming the administrator has created an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm among leaders and activists of the district BNP, its associate and affiliated organizations, as well as people from different walks of life in Rajshahi. Many see it as the beginning of new possibilities in the city's politics.

 
Party sources say that Ershad Ali Isha has long been known as an active and dedicated leader in Rajshahi politics. 

He has played an important role in various party movements and struggles. Local leaders and activists noted that even during politically difficult times, he remained active in implementing party programs. 

Many believe that his long political experience and organizational skills led to his appointment as the administrator of the district council.

Following the announcement of his new role, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations expressed their joy at various places in Rajshahi. 

Many people were seen posting congratulatory messages for him on social media. Preparations are also reportedly underway to put up banners and posters in different parts of the city to congratulate him.

Several leaders of Rajshahi District BNP said that Ershad Ali Isha is an honest, capable, and worker-friendly leader who has always stood by ordinary people. 

They expressed hope that, as the administrator of the district council, he would now be able to play an even greater role in the overall development of Rajshahi.

 
Representatives of the city's civil society have also viewed the appointment positively. 

According to them, the presence of capable and experienced leadership in the local government system can make development activities in the district more dynamic. 

They hope that as the new administrator, Ershad Ali Isha will prioritize transparency, accountability, and development-oriented initiatives.
 
Several academics and social organization representatives in Rajshahi said the district council is an important institution for implementing development activities in the district. It plays a significant role in projects such as road development, support for educational institutions, and social development.

Therefore, they expect the new administrator to take effective initiatives to implement development plans for the district.

Reacting to his appointment, Ershad Ali Isha said, "I am accepting this responsibility with honor and a strong sense of duty. I will make my utmost effort to ensure the overall development of Rajshahi, the welfare of its people, and transparent administration. With everyone's cooperation, I want to make the district council a more effective institution for public welfare."

He further said that priority will be given to rural infrastructure development in Rajshahi, support for the education and health sectors, improvement of the communication system, and various public welfare initiatives. 

At the same time, development plans will be implemented with due regard for the opinions and needs of ordinary people.

Meanwhile, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has also congratulated Ershad Ali Isha on becoming the administrator of the district council. The minister conveyed his greetings in a congratulatory message.
