FARIDPUR, March 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Board of Trustees distributed donation cheques among families of victims killed and injured in road accidents in Faridpur on Sunday.
The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in the afternoon. BRTA Assistant Director Palash Khisa presided over the event, while Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla attended as the chief guest.
Among others present at the programme were Additional Deputy Commissioner Mintu Biswas, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Faridpur District Minibus Owners Group Vice-President Muha: Shahin Chowdhury, and Inter-District Workers Union General Secretary Golam Azad.
Speakers at the event said road accidents bring immense suffering to families and cause irreparable losses. They emphasized the importance of drivers strictly following traffic laws to reduce road accidents.
They also said that while financial assistance cannot compensate for the loss of loved ones, the initiative aims to stand beside the affected families during difficult times.
According to BRTA authorities, from July to November 2025, a total of Taka 1.93 crore was distributed among 41 applicants affected by road accidents. Of them, families of 37 deceased victims received Taka 5 lakh each, while two injured persons who lost limbs were given Taka 3 lakh each. The remaining two injured victims received Taka 1 lakh each as assistance.
