CUMILLA, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 in separate drives have recovered a foreign made pistol, two magazines and 34 kilograms of marijuana from different areas of the district.
A man previously convicted in a drug case was also arrested during the drives.
Major Sadman Ibne Alam, Company Commander of RAB-11, CPC-2, confirmed the matter this afternoon.
According to RAB, a special operational team conducted a raid in Amratoli area under Kotwali Model Police Station on Thursday night based on confidential information. During the operation, Md. Saifur Rahman Saikat, 26, a convict sentenced to one year in a drug case, was arrested. He is the son of Siddiqur Rahman of Amratoli village.
In another operation the same night, RAB carried out an anti-drug drive in the Fultali area under Sadar Dakshin Model Police Station. Sensing the presence of RAB personnel, suspected drug dealers fled the scene, leaving behind two sacks. After searching the sacks, the team recovered 34 kilograms of marijuana.
In a separate raid in the Matiara East area, also under Sadar Dakshin Model Police Station, RAB recovered a foreign pistol and two magazines from a bag abandoned by suspects who fled after detecting the presence of the law enforcement team.
The elite force also said that the operations were conducted as part of its "zero tolerance" policy against terrorism and drugs following directives from RAB headquarters. Such drives will continue to ensure overall law and order in the country.
