RAJSHAHI, March 13, 2026 (BSS)- A bakery in Rajshahi city has been fined for producing and selling food products without a license from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

A mobile court was conducted in the city on Thursday under the initiative of the BSTI Divisional Office in Rajshahi.

During the drive, authorities found that the bakery was producing, selling, and distributing biscuits, bread, and cakes in an unhygienic environment without obtaining the BSTI quality certification.

Evidence was also found that the BSTI standard mark was being used illegally on product packaging.

For these offenses, a bakery named Messrs National Bakery, located in the BSCIC Industrial Area of the city, was fined Taka 10,000.

The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate Sehreen Tabassum Tithi of the Rajshahi District Administration.

Engineer Junaid Ahmed, an officer of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Divisional Office in Rajshahi, served as the prosecutor during the operation.

Members of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were also present and provided overall assistance.

According to sources at the BSTI Divisional Office, such drives will continue regularly in Rajshahi in the public interest to prevent food adulteration and ensure the supply of quality food products.
