BAGERHAT, March 12, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested an active member of the notorious Karim Sharif Bahini along with arms and ammunition during a special operation in the Sundarbans this morning.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the matter this afternoon.

According to him, acting on a tip-off that members of the Karim Sharif Bahini were staying in the Murti Canal area adjacent to the Shela River, a special Coast Guard team of Mongla base conducted a drive in the area around 6:00 am.

During the operation, the team arrested Osman Gani, 38, an active member of the gang. 
Coast Guard later carried out a search in the surrounding area and recovered one single-barrel gun, 16 rounds of live cartridges and five rounds of blank cartridges.

The arrested individual, Osman Gani, is a resident of Ashashuni Police Station area in Satkhira district.

Legal procedures regarding this matter are currently underway.
