RAJSHAHI, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has conducted a special drive against reckless drum trucks on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway and fined three drivers.
To ensure the safe travel of homebound people ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and to restore discipline on the roads, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the Puthia Upazila Administration, Shibu Das, carried out the operation.
The drive was conducted on Monday at several important points along the highway targeting drum trucks moving at reckless speeds.
According to the Assistant Commissioner (Land), the initiative was taken to prevent accidents and stop the movement of unfit vehicles as traffic pressure increases on the roads during the Eid period.
He said that reckless drum trucks operating on the highway have become a major cause of fear for ordinary passengers.
During the operation, verification of documents revealed that many drum trucks were operating without the required legal papers.
During the drive, three drum truck drivers were detained for not having driving licenses, fitness certificates, tax tokens, and route permits.
For violating the law, the mobile court fined the three drivers a total of Taka 9,000 under the relevant sections.
Shibu Das further said that the administration has taken this strict stance to maintain order on the highway and ensure a smooth Eid journey for the public, adding that no vehicle violating the law will be spared.
