CHAPAINAWABGANJ, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - The hustle and bustle of Eid shopping
has taken over the markets of Chapainawabganj as the Holy festival of Eid-ul-
Fitr draws near.
With the arrival of the festive season, there has been a significant surge in
the number of shoppers visiting markets across the district to purchase new
clothes and other essentials for the occasion.
From early morning until midnight, families are flocking to the markets,
eagerly buying their favorite outfits and gifts. However, a noticeable trend
has emerged - the crowds at women's and children's clothing stores are much
larger compared to those at men's shops.
In particular, there is a considerable rush among women shoppers at stores
selling sarees, three-piece suits, gowns, lehengas, and other fashionable
attire. Additionally, cosmetic stores are witnessing an influx of buyers.
Both buyers and traders have expressed satisfaction with the current prices
and the pace of sales. Shoppers seem to be finding good deals, and traders
report a steady flow of customers. This festive shopping atmosphere is not
confined to the district's main markets, it extends to smaller local shops
across the region as well. From the streets of Chapainawabganj town to the
vibrant markets of its neighboring upazilas, the excitement of Eid shopping
is palpable.
In various local markets, including New Market, Zilla Parishad Super Market,
Old Market, Shibganj Bazar, Kansat Bazar, Nachol Modern Market, and Rohanpur
New Market, crowds of shoppers can be seen picking out clothes, shoes, and
other accessories. It's clear that despite the ongoing challenges, the
festive spirit is alive and thriving in the district.
Many buyers have opted to shop early, hoping to avoid the peak crowds
expected closer to Eid. Monirul Islam, a resident of Shibganj, shared his
experience after shopping at New Market with his family. "Eid is still about
10-12 days away, but the market is already crowded. I came early to buy
clothes for my children. The prices are the same as last year, so I have been
able to complete my shopping within my budget. I've bought clothes for four
members of my family for around Taka 10,000," Islam said.
Sadiqul Islam, a cloth trader at Taj Market in Shibganj Bazar, said that
while sales were relatively slow during the early days of Ramadan, there has
been a noticeable increase in the volume of customers from the eighth to the
10th day of the month. "The sales have been much better since then, and we
expect the trend to continue as Eid approaches," Islam added.
The demand for women's fashion has been particularly high this year, with
stores reporting brisk sales of clothing and accessories. Nadeem Shoes-Store,
located in Rohanpur New Market, has seen better sales compared to last year.
According to the store owner, "There is a high demand for shoes and sandals,
especially for girls and young women. On average, we are making around Taka
60 to 70 thousand in sales every day."
The surge in sales across markets is expected to continue as Eid approaches,
with traders confident that business will only pick up in the coming days.
As the shopping frenzy continues, Chapainawabganj's markets are bustling with
excitement, and families are preparing for a joyous Eid celebration. The
festive atmosphere is a testament to the spirit of community and togetherness
that defines the holiday season in this vibrant district.
