RAJSHAHI, March 9, 2026 (BSS)- Three people were killed and two others
injured in a head-on collision between an unauthorized vehicle [locally known
as "Bhutbhuti"] and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Bagha upazila of the district
today.

Among the deceased are the CNG driver and another passenger who died on the
spot, while a woman died on the way to hospital.

The injured are currently receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College and
Hospital (RMCH).

The accident occurred this morning in the Chandipur area of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as CNG driver Shariful Islam, son of Nazir
Dafadar of Fatepur village under Bilmaria in Lalpur, Natore, and passenger

the scene. Another passenger, Rukena Begum, wife of Nazim Uddin of Salampur
village in Lalpur upazila of Natore district, died while being taken to RMCH.

According to local residents, an empty illegal Bhutbhuti was heading towards
Ishwardi via the Baneshwar-Ishwardi road through Bagha around 7:30 a.m.

At the same time, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying five passengers was coming
to Bagha from the neighboring Lalpur upazila. On the eastern side of
Chandipur Bazar in Bagha, the two vehicles collided head-on at a turning
point. The CNG was badly mangled in the crash, killing the driver and one
passenger on the spot.

Locals rushed the remaining three passengers-- Rukena Begum, Sajahan Ali, and
Seema Begum-- to the emergency department of Bagha Health Complex.

The on-duty physician, Dr. Hasibul Islam, provided primary treatment and
referred them to RMCH for advanced care. However, Rukena Begum died on the
way to RMCH.
