MEHERPUR, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed and three others, including a child and an infant, were injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Fatepur village of Sadar upazila here this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannaf, 55, son of Asad Ali of Kamdebpur village in the upazila.

According to local sources, the accident occurred around 11:00 am near a brick kiln in Fatepur village while Mannaf was travelling by motorcycle to take his daughter and granddaughters in Sholmari. His motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction at high speed.

Abdul Mannaf died on the spot, while three passengers were seriously injured. 

The injured were identified as Taslima Khatun, 30, daughter of the deceased, her daughter Khadija Khatun, 3, and a three-month-old infant Chandni Khatun.

Local residents rescued the injured and took them to Meherpur General Hospital for treatment.

The motorcyclist from the other vehicle reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station Humayun Kabir confirmed the incident.

OC informed the body has been recovered and sent to the morgue of Meherpur General Hospital.

He added that legal proceedings in connection with the incident are currently underway.
