RAJSHAHI, March 9, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 4,625 low-income families in Nowahata Municipality of the district have received Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) rice at a rate of 10 kilograms each ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The two-day distribution programme was inaugurated this morning at the Nowahata Government High School field.
Assistant Engineer Jaminur Rahman of the Paba Zone under the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority attended the programme as the tag officer.
Among others Nowahata Municipal BNP leader Mortuza Ali, Executive Officer Md Rabiul Islam, Dr Md Waliul Islam Khan, officials and employees of different departments of the municipality and members of law enforcement agencies were present.
Municipal Executive Officer Md Rabiul Islam said 10 kilograms of rice are being distributed to each of the 4,625 families across the municipality's nine wards marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
He said the distribution programme has already begun in wards 2, 4, 5 and 6 and will gradually be completed in the remaining wards.
