BAGERHAT, March 8, 2026 (BSS) - 27-year-old Nur Islam who was shot on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Mollahat Upazila here has been transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment.
The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Saturday in the Kahalpur Paschimpara area. Nur Islam is the son of freedom fighter Moazzem Hossain of Kuliya village and works as a salesman at Sheikh Traders in Mollahat Bazar.
According to local sources, Nur Islam was returning home from Mollahat Bazar on his motorcycle after finishing work when he was suddenly shot. He fell on the highway along with his motorcycle. Passers-by rescued him and rushed him to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Farman, the duty doctor at the health complex, said the youth sustained three injuries, including gunshot wounds behind his ear and under his head and also suffered a waist injury from the fall.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, Nur Islam was first taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital and later transferred to DMCH for specialized treatment.
Mollahat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ramjanul Haque said an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances and cause of the shooting.
