KHULNA Mar 8, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today directed the authorities to ensure that the general public do not face any suffering and urged traders to display price lists of their essential products.
The administrator made the directive while inspecting prices of essential commodities at several important markets in the city today and expressed disappointment over irregularities.
He also said that although most traders displayed price lists of their products, some were not complying with the directive. He also noted that the absence of some traders from their shops carried suspicious indications. In this regard, he sought the intervention of leaders of the traders’ associations.
During the visit, he inspected the New Market kitchen market and Boyra market in the city.
The KCC administrator said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said they want people to be able to purchase essential commodities at fair prices during the holy month of Ramadan. At the same time, traders should maintain a reasonable balance between the purchase and selling prices of daily necessities, he added.
Manju said not only during Ramadan but at all times, essential food items should remain within the purchasing capacity of common people and the quality of food products must be maintained.
He added that leaders of the traders’ associations have assured that they will remain vigilant so that consumers can buy products at fair prices.
KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Chief Engineer Mashiyuzzaman Khan, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Executive Magistrate Kohinur Jahan, Executive Engineer Sheikh Md Masud Karim, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Peru Gopal Biswas, Market Superintendent Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar, Estate Officer Gazi Salauddin and Assistant Market Superintendent Liaquat Hossain, among others, were present during the inspection.
