RAJSHAHI, March 7, 2026 (BSS)- The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has increased surveillance on Indian trucks entering Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj to prevent oil smuggling.
The fuel in each truck arriving from India is now being measured, and monitoring along the border has been intensified.
According to BGB, the measure aims to ensure that empty trucks returning to India do not carry additional fuel from Bangladesh.
To achieve this, the amount of fuel in Indian goods-laden trucks is checked when they enter the port.
After unloading their goods, the fuel level is checked again when the trucks leave for India. This step is expected to eliminate opportunities for oil smuggling.
Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, Commanding Officer of BGB-59 Battalion in Chapainawabganj, said that BGB members are maintaining strict vigilance to prevent all kinds of smuggling, including oil, and other illegal activities in the border areas.
