RANGPUR, March 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of the District Police in an anti-gambling operation have arrested three members of an online gambling ring from the Shiber Bazar area under Sadar upazila of the district. 

Rangpur District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Marufat Hussaine confirmed the on Thursday night. 

The arrested persons are Rabiul Islam, 25, of village Mohadebpur Telipara, Md Mojahid Ali alias Laden, 23, of Batirampur area, and Md Nurunnabi Islam Topu, 25, of Kismat Horkoli area under Sadar upazila of Rangpur. 

They were arrested in a raid on Wednesday night in the Shiber Bazar area.

All devices of arrestees were seized using for online gambling purpose. 

 The arrested online gamblers were playing online gambling in various areas of Sadar Kotwali police station in Rangpur and had been operating mobile banking and gambling portals using different national identity cards. 

Case has been filed at Rangpur Kotwali Sadar police station in this incident. 

The arrested persons were produced in a Rangpur court, from where they were sent to jail on Thursday afternoon, SP added.
