CHUADANGA, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - Four shopkeepers were fined a total of Taka 26,000 in Alamdanga upazila of the district for preparing food in unhygienic conditions and failing to maintain proper gas purchase and sale documents.
According to a press release from the Chuadanga district office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, the action was taken during a regular monitoring drive conducted in the Station Road and High Road areas of Alamdanga on Thursday.
The drive took place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and targeted hotels, LPG gas outlets, and fruit shops to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and food safety standards.
During the operation, three food shops were fined under Section 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for preparing and storing food in unsanitary environments.
Nazrul Islam’s Al Medina Mishtanna Bhandar and Alauddin Miah’s Alauddin Hotel were each fined Taka 3,000, while Paresh Ghosh’s M/s Chandrana Hotel was fined Taka 10,000.
Additionally, Majedul Islam’s Al Karim Traders, an LPG gas shop, was fined Taka 10,000 under Section 45 of the same act for failing to properly preserve gas purchase and sales records.
The operation was led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Chuadanga District Office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department. District Food Safety Officer Sajeeb Pal, CAB representative Rafiqul Islam, and members of the police assisted in the drive.
