BAGERHAT, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - Thousands of devotees gathered in Bagerhat to celebrate the traditional religious festival of Dol Festival with enthusiasm and colorful festivities on Wednesday.
The day-long celebration took place at the Bangladesh Sevashram Central Temple premises in Gora Nalua area of Chitalmari upazila. Devotees from different parts of the country joined the event, turning the area into a vibrant gathering of worshippers and visitors.
The festival began in the morning with religious rituals, including worship, recitation from the Gita, and devotional kirtan. As the day progressed, a colorful procession was brought out, parading through the surrounding roads while devotees celebrated by throwing Abir, the traditional colored powder associated with the Dol festival.
People of all ages participated enthusiastically in the celebrations, creating a festive and joyous atmosphere throughout the temple premises and nearby areas.
Md. Mashiur Rahman Khan, Member of Parliament for the Bagerhat-1 constituency attended the event and greeted the devotees.
Despite the large turnout, organizers said that special arrangements were made to maintain order and ensure the safety of the participants. Volunteers and local authorities worked together to manage the crowd throughout the day.
Religious speakers at the event highlighted that Dol Yatra promotes the values of brotherhood, tolerance, and communal harmony among people.
At the end of the programme, prasad was distributed among the devotees. Organizers and local residents expressed satisfaction that the festival concluded peacefully and successfully.
