RAJSHAHI, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 500 grams of heroin at the Godagari border in Rajshahi.

The drugs were recovered around 11:00 pm on Saturday (February 28) from the bank of the Padma River at Char-Hanumanthnagar frontier.

The information was disclosed in a press release on Sunday (March 1).

According to the statement, members of the Sahebnagar BOP under the Rajshahi Battalion (1 BGB) recovered the narcotics from the Padma River.

Two drug traffickers were approaching the riverbank carrying a bag.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the traffickers threw the bag into the river and fled the scene.

Later, BGB members searched the abandoned bag and seized five packets (500 grams) of Indian heroin.

In another anti-smuggling operation, the BGB has seized 26 bottles of Indian liquor.

The seizure took place near Madrasa More under Godagari Police Station in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the release, a drug trafficker was approaching the mango orchard area. When the BGB team chased him to apprehend him, he abandoned a sack he was carrying and fled the scene.

Subsequently, the BGB team inspected the sack and recovered 26 bottles of Indian liquor.

The authorities are continuing intelligence operations to identify the fugitive trafficker and take appropriate legal action against him.

The seized liquor has been deposited at Godagari Police Station.
