NARSINGDI, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a 
couple accused of killing Chhatra Dal activist Zahidul Islam in the district.

RAB-11 CPSC Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police and Camp Commander 
Md Ariful Islam confirmed the arrests at a press conference held on Friday 
afternoon.

Based on secret information, the accused-- Rajan and his wife Zara-- were 
apprehended during a joint operation by RAB-11 and RAB-12 in Batoil Bhadalia 
area of Kushtia Sadar on Thursday afternoon,. They had been absconding since 
the incident and were listed as accused numbers one and two in the case.

According to RAB, the killing took place on December 29 when miscreants 
blocked Zahidul Islam's path in the Nowpara area under Madhabdi Police 
Station and stabbed him to death with a sharp weapon. During initial 
interrogation, Rajan and Zara confessed to their direct involvement in the 
murder.

After completing legal formalities, the two were handed over to Madhabdi 
Police Station on Friday. RAB said efforts are ongoing to arrest the 
remaining suspects involved in the case.
