TANGAIL, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - A woman, whose identity could not be confirmed immediately, was killed after being hit by a drum truck in Mirzapur upazila of the district this morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30 am in Gorai area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

According to police, the woman, approximately 50 years old, was standing beneath the flyover when a drum truck struck her, killing her on the spot. After receiving information, members of the Gorai Highway Police recovered the body from the scene.

Sohel Sarwar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gorai Highway Police Station, said efforts are underway to identify the victim. "The body will be handed over to her family after completion of the necessary legal formalities," he added.

Police also seized the drum truck involved in the accident.
