JASHORE, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) – The President of Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarresin and editor of the daily Inqilab, AMM Bahauddin, today said that Begum Khaleda Zia was a legendary leader whose visionary leadership propelled Bangladesh forward.
“If Tarique Rahman becomes prime minister in the future, Bangladesh will progress even further, following the path set by Begum Khaleda Zia,” he added.
Bahauddin was addressing a discussion titled “Contribution of Leader of the Nation and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to the development of madrasa education” and a doa mahfil seeking eternal peace of her departed soul.
Jamiatul Modarressin Jashore Sadar Upazila unit organized the event at a hotel in the district town this afternoon.
Highlighting Begum Khaleda Zia’s contributions to national development, AMM Bahauddin said she had placed special emphasis on the expansion of the readymade garments (RMG) sector, the country’s leading export industry.
He said during her tenure as prime minister, Begum Khaleda Zia created employment opportunities for women in the garment sector ensuring a dignified working environment.
Through the introduction of non-formal education, she also helped transform a vast segment of the country’s female population into skilled human resources, he added.
AMM Bahauddin further said Begum Khaleda Zia played the pioneering role in increasing the salaries of Madrasa teachers and took special initiatives to improve the overall standard of Madrasa education.
He noted that it was during her government’s tenure that Fazil and Kamil levels of madrasa education were recognised as equivalent to degree and master’s levels, calling it a landmark step in the history of madrasa education in Bangladesh.
Chaired by the President of Jamiatul Modarressin Jashore Sadar Upazila unit Principal Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, it was also addressed by BNP Khulna Divisional Acting Organising Secretary and BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for Jashore-3 constituency Anindya Islam Amit and Jamiatul Modarressin Vice-President Muhammad Nurul Islam.
Jashore district BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon and Organising Secretary Monir Ahmed Siddiqui Bachchu were also present on the occasion.
