BAGERHAT, Jan 7, 2026 (BSS) - Separate yard meetings on the upcoming referendum and the 13th national parliamentary election 2026 were held this afternoon at the Model Mosque premises and the 90 Roshi Bus Stand area of Morrelganj upazila here in the district.
The meetings were organized by the District Information Office, Bagerhat, to raise public awareness about the democratic process and voting responsibilities.
Morrelganj Upazila Executive Officer Md. Abdullah attended the programmes as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the referendum and national parliamentary elections are vital components of the country's democratic system.
He added that the government has taken all necessary measures to ensure free, fair and impartial elections.
"The administration is working tirelessly so that voters can exercise their franchise smoothly and without any obstruction," he said.
The UNO urged voters to go to polling stations without fear and advised them remain cautious about election-related rumors and misinformation.
During the meetings, District Information Officer Muinul Islam and other officials elaborated on the importance of the referendum and elections, voting procedures and the civic duties of citizens.
Local public representatives, dignitaries and people from various walks of life, including male and female voters, were present at the yard meetings.
