BARGUNA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - Nomination papers of five candidates contesting the upcoming 13th National Parliament election from Barguna-1 and Barguna-2 constituencies have been cancelled following scrutiny by the returning officer.

According to the Returning Officer’s office, a total of 18 candidates submitted nomination papers for the two constituencies. After scrutiny, 13 nominations were found valid, while five were declared invalid.

Nomination papers of independent candidate Mashiur Rahman and NPP candidate Solaiman were cancelled due to loan default issues. Md. Shamim’s nomination was rejected as his name was not included in the voter list under the Representation of the People Order, and he failed to submit signatures of one percent of voters as required. 

Meanwhile, the nominations of Rasheduzzaman and Alauddin were cancelled for concealing information related to pending cases.
