10 nominations cancelled, one adjourned, 35 declared valid in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - After scrutiny of 46 nomination papers submitted for six parliamentary constituencies in Khulna for the 13th national parliamentary elections, the district returning officer has cancelled 10 nominations, adjourned one and declared 35 nomination papers valid.

Khulna District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner A S M Jamshed Khondokar announced the decisions today, the final day of scrutiny, following completion of the process at his conference room.

In Khulna-1 (Batiaghata-Dacope) constituency, the nomination papers of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) candidate G M Rokonuzzaman and independent candidates Achinta Kumar Mondal and Govinda Halder were cancelled.

In Khulna-3 (Daulatpur-Khalishpur-Khanjahan Ali-Arangghata) constituency, the nominations of independent candidates Abdur Rouf Molla, Abul Hasnat Siddique and Arifur Rahman Mithu were rejected.

In Khulna-4 (Rupsha-Terokhada-Dighalia), the nomination paper of independent candidate S M Azmol Hossain was cancelled.
In Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Fultala), the nomination of Jatiya Party candidate Shamim Ara Parveen was cancelled, while the nomination of Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was adjourned.

In Khulna-6 (Paikgachha-Koyra), the nomination papers of Jatiya Party candidate Md Mostofa Kamal Zahangir and independent candidate Md Asadul Biswas were cancelled. Meanwhile, all nomination papers submitted in Khulna-2 constituency were declared valid.

Among the 35 candidates whose nominations were declared valid, 10 are contesting from Khulna-1 constituency. They are BNP candidate Amir Ezaz Khan, CPB candidate Kishor Kumar Roy, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Krisna Nandi, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party candidate Probir Gopal Roy, JSD candidate Proshenjit Dutta, Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate Md Abu Sayeed, Jatiya Party candidate Md Zahangir Hossain, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish candidate Md Firozul Islam, Bangladesh Islami Front candidate Sunil Shuvo Roy and Bangladesh Somo Adhikar Party candidate Subroto Mondol.

In Khulna-2 constituency, the four valid candidates are IOB candidate Amanullah, BNP candidate Nazrul Islam Monzu, Khelafat Majlish candidate Md Shahidul Islam, and Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Sheikh Zahangir Hossain Helal.

The nine candidates declared valid in Khulna-3 constituency are IOB candidate Md Awal, BNP candidate Rokibul Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) candidate Janardan Dutta, Khelafat Majlish candidate F M Harun-ur-Rashid, National Democratic League (NDL) candidate Sheikh Arman Hossain, Jatiya Party candidate Md Abdullah Al Mamun, and independent candidates Md Murad Khan Liton and Moin Mohammad Mayaz.

In Khulna-4 constituency, the four valid candidates are IOB candidate Younus Ahmed Sheikh, BNP candidate S K Azizul Bari, Khelafat Majlish candidate S M Sakhwat Hossain, and Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Kobirul Islam.

The five valid candidates in Khulna-5 constituency are CPB candidate Chitto Ranjan Golder, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mia Golam Parwar, BNP candidate Mohammad Ali Asgor, and Khelafat Majlish candidate Md Abdul Quyaum Jomaddar.

In Khulna-6 constituency, the valid candidates are BNP candidate S M Monirul Hasan Bappy, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Abul Kalam Azad, IOB candidate Md Asadulla Fakir, and CPB candidate Proshanta Kumar Mondal.

Returning Officer A S M Jamshed Khondokar said scrutiny of all nomination papers in the six constituencies has been completed. He added that candidates whose nomination papers were rejected may appeal to the Election Commission in accordance with the rules.
