Nominations of 12 candidates cancelled, 44 declared valid in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 3, 2026 (BSS) - After scrutinizing a total of 56 nomination papers submitted in six seats of Rangpur in the 13th National Parliament election, the District Returning Officer has declared cancellation of 12 candidates’ nomination papers.
 
The District Returning Officer has also declared 44 nomination papers valid.
 
On Saturday afternoon -- on the third and final day of the scrutiny -- Rangpur District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan announced the matter after completing the scrutiny at his conference room. 
 
The candidates whose nomination papers were rejected are - Jatiya Party nominated candidate Barrister Manjum Ali in Rangpur-1 (Gangachara-part of Rangpur City) constituency. Independent candidate Rita Rahman and BSD (Marxist) Anwar Hossain Bablu in Rangpur-3 (Sadar-City Corporation) constituency.
 
Independent candidate Md Shah Alam Basar, independent candidate Md Zainul Abedin and Jatiya Party (Anis-Ruhul) Md Abdus Salam in Rangpur-4 (Kawnia-Pirgachha) constituency.
 
Independent candidate Khandaker Mukit Al Mahmud and Abdul Basher Marjan of AB Party in Rangpur-5 (Mithapukur) constituency.
 
Md Kamruzzaman of Bangladesh Communist Party, independent candidates SM Shahajaman Rawshan, Khandaker Shahidul Islam, SM Shahajaman Rawshan and Takia Zaman Chowdhury in Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency.
 
The 44 legitimate candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies of Rangpur are: 
 
In Rangpur-1 constituency, the eight valid candidates are BNP's Mokaram Hossain Sujan, Jamaat-e-Islami's Moulana Raihan Siraji, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's ATM Golam Mostafa Babu, Gano Adhikar Parishad's Hanifur Rahman Sajib, BSD (Marxist) Ahsanul Arefin Titu, Jatiya Nagorik Party's Md Al Mamun, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish's Md Mominur Rahman and Islamic Front Bangladesh's Mohammad Anas.
 
In Rangpur-2 constituency, the five legitimate candidates for Rangpur-2 constituency are BNP's Mohammad Ali Sarkar, Jatiya Party’s former MP Anisul Islam Mondal, Jamaat’s ATM Azharul Islam, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Maulana Md Ashraf Ali and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)'s Md Azizur Rahman. 
 
The eight valid candidates for Rangpur-3 constituency are - BNP's Md Shamsuzzaman Samu, Jamaat's Professor Mahbubar Rahman Belal, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Amiruzzaman Piyal, Jatiya Party's Golam Mohammad Quader, independent candidate Anwara Islam Rani of the third gender, BSD's Abdul Quddus, Khelafat Majlis's Touhidur Rahman Mondal, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis's Nur Alam Siddique.
 
The seven legitimate candidates for Rangpur-4 constituency are - BNP's Emdadul Haque Bharsha, NCP's Akhter Hossen, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Moulana Muhammad Zahid Hasan, Jatiya Party's Abu Naser Shah Mohammad Mahbubar Rahman, BSD (Marxist) Pragati Barman Toma, Bangladesh Congress's Ujjwal Chandra Roy and Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis's Md Abu Saha.
 
The nine legitimate candidates for Rangpur-5 constituency are - Mohammad Golam Rabbani of BNP, Professor Golam Rabbani of Jamaat, SM Fakhrouzzaman Jahangir of Jatiya Party, Professor Golzar Hossain of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Babul Akhtar of BSD (Marxist), Abu Helal of CPB, Mominul Islam of BSD, Mofakhkharul Islam Nabab of Nagorik Oikya, and Anwar Hussaine of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish. 
 
The seven legitimate candidates for Rangpur-6 constituency are - Md Saiful Islam of BNP, Moulana Nurul Amin of Jamaat, Nur-e Alam Mia of Jatiya Party, Moulana Sultan Mahmud of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Sadequl Islam of AB Party, Independent Abu Zafar Md Zahid and Mahbubur Rahman of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish. 
 
In this regard, Rangpur District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan said that the scrutiny of all 56 nomination papers votes has been held in six parliamentary constituencies of Rangpur. 
 
The nomination papers of 12 candidates from six parliamentary constituencies have been declared invalid and the remaining 44 were declared valid in the scrutiny. 
 
“The candidates whose nomination papers have been declared invalid can appeal to the Election Commission to restore the validity of their candidatures as per the rules,” he said.
