JASHORE, Jan 3, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Friday arrested four leaders and activists of banned Awami League (AL) in separate sabotage cases during overnight raids in different areas of Jashore district.

The arrestees are Saidur Rahman Khokon alias Babu (55), general secretary of Ward No. 6 Dewara Union AL; AL activist Faisal Hossain (38); Swechchhasebak League leader Nazrul Islam Sohag (48); and Shahidul Islam (50), president of Ward No. 7 unit of Jubo League in Nawapara Union.

Police said Saidur Rahman and Faisal Hossain were arrested with the help of DB police for their suspected involvement in arson, looting and vandalism at the district BNP office on August 4, 2024. 

Nazrul Islam Sohag was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a bus on Park Road on November 12, while Shahidul Islam was detained in connection with a sabotage incident on the Jessore–Manirampur road at Kanaitala on November 18.

Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Hossain confirmed that all four were produced before the court on Saturday.
