
RANGPUR, Dec 14, 2021 (BSS) - Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee
on the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education valiant Freedom Fighter
Advocate Md. Mostafizur Rahman Fizar MP has stressed comprehensive GO-NGO
efforts to cut rural poverty.
He viewed this in a function organized by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB),
an NGO, to distribute heifers among the poor families at Shiddisi High School
ground in Betdighee union of Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur on Monday afternoon
as the chief guest.
Rahman, also a former Minister, distributed 205 heifers free of cost among
205 ultra poor families of Eluari, Aladipur, Betdighee and Kazihal unions of
the upazila under the Development of Ultra Poor Programme of the Phulbari
Area Programme of WVB.
The main objective of distribution of heifers is to assist the backward
rural families to ensure family level employment, economic development and
welfare of their children for achieving self-reliance through income
generating activities.
Phulbari upazila Chairman Md. Ataur Rahman Milton presided over the
function.
Phulbari upazila Vice-chairman Manju Roy Chowdhury, Betdighee union
Chairman Shah Md. Abdul Kuddus, Senior Manager of WVB Arbindu Silveter Gosev,
Phulbari Area Programme Manager Swapan Singh, Headmaster of Shiddisi High
School Mizanur Rahman, among others, addressed the function.
The chief guest urged the heifer recipient poor families to take proper
care of the four footed animals to achieve self-reliance to improve
livelihoods and living standards and ensure welfare of their children.
