RANGPUR, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Health and Population 
Affairs Secretary of Rangpur Metropolitan Swechchasebak League Dr Mahmudul 
Hasan Shishir, 32, in a case of attempted murder and attack on anti-
discrimination student movement. 
 
Dr Shishir is also Rangpur District Office Secretary of the Swadhinata 
Chikitsak Parishad.
 
"We arrested Dr Shishir from the Gunjan Intersection of the city's 
Kamalkachna area in the early hours of today," officer-in-charge (OC) of 
Kotwali Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Ataur Rahman told 
BSS this afternoon.

He is an accused in the attempted murder case of Shahidul Islam Sagar, who 
was shot during the anti-discrimination student movement protest march in 
Rangpur metropolis. 
 
There are various allegations against him of attacking processions and firing 
during the anti-discrimination student movement. 
 
Dr Shishir lived in a rented house in the Kamalkachna area of the city. He 
went into hiding after August 5, 2024. 
 
He had recently come to Rangpur city and was trying to organise terrorist 
activities to sabotage Sheikh Hasina's verdict. 
 
"We produced Dr Mahmudul Hasan Shishir before the Rangpur Metropolitan 
Magistrate Court, from where he was sent to jail this afternoon," the OC 
added.
