LALMONIRHAT, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS) – Two brothers died and two others were injured after being electrocuted at Duhuli Bakalitari village of Chalbala union in Kaliganj upazila here on Sunday morning.

The deceased were Nur Islam, 55, and his brother Delwar Hossain, 43, residents of the same area.

Officer in-Charge of Kaliganj police station M Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter.

According to locals, Nur Islam got electrocuted when he came in contact with an electric wire while trying to connect a power line to an irrigation pump near their home. Hearing his cries, his brother Delwar Hossain rushed to save him but was also electrocuted.

Later, their younger brother Yasin and uncle Sirajul attempted to rescue them and were also electrocuted. Both of them were injured.

Locals managed to rescue all four and rushed  them to Aditmari Upazila Health Complex. Doctors declared Nur Islam and Delwar Hossain dead upon arrival, while Yasin and Sirajul are currently receiving treatment.

“Two of the four died before reaching the hospital,” said Omar Faruk, deputy assistant medical officer of Aditmari Upazila Health Complex.
