96.20pc Covid-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

 RANGPUR, Dec 2, 2021 (BSS) - Some 96.20 percent Covid-19 patients have
so far recovered in Rangpur division where the pandemic situation continues
improving during the last three months.

     Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam
said 14 more Covid-19 patients healed on Wednesday raising the total number
of recovered people to 53,458 at the average recovery rate of 96.20 percent
in the division.

     The 53,458 recovered patients include 11,630 of Rangpur, 3,686
Panchagarh, 4,363 of Nilphamari, 2,625 of Lalmonirhat, 4,527 of Kurigram,
7,372 of Thakurgaon, 14,460 of Dinajpur and 4,795 of Gaibandha districts in
the division.

     "Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,572 as seven fresh
cases were diagnosed after testing 198 new samples at the positivity rate of
3.54 percent on Wednesday in the division," he said

     Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 1.45 percent on
Tuesday, 2.59 percent on Monday, 1.84 percent on Sunday, 5.49 percent on
Saturday, 1.75 percent on Friday and 3.03 percent on Thursday last in the
division.

     The district-wise break up of total 55,572 patients include 12,509 of
Rangpur, 3,824 Panchagarh, 4,460 of Nilphamari, 2,749 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646
of Kurigram, 7,669 of Thakurgaon, 14,845 of Dinajpur and 4,870 of Gaibandha
in the division.

     "Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 3,00,607 collected
samples were tested till Wednesday, and of them, 55,572 were found positive
with an average positivity rate of 18.49 percent in the division," Dr Islam
said.

     Currently, the number of casualties remains steady at 1,245 as no new
deaths were reported during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today from the
division.

     "The district-wise break up of the 1,245 fatalities stands at 293 in
Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 254 in Thakurgaon, 328 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.

     The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.

    Among the 55,572 Covid-19 patients, 32 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units, including eight patients at ICU and four at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 53,458 patients and 1,245 deaths while 837 are
remaining in home isolation.

     "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-
19 vaccine rose to 72,09,021, and among them, 39,13,872 got the second dose
of the jab till Wednesday in the division," Dr Islam added.

        Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu called
for abiding by the health directives to remain safe despite the Covid-19
situation continuing to improve.
