Average Covid-19 positivity 18.57pc in Rangpur

   RANGPUR, Nov 24, 2021 (BSS) - The average Covid-19 positivity rate
currently stands at 18.57 percent in Rangpur division where 55,528 patients
were diagnosed after testing 2,98,990 samples since the beginning of the
pandemic.

     "The number of Covid-19 cases rose to 55,528 with diagnosis of seven new
patients after testing 176 samples at the positivity rate of 3.987 percent on
Tuesday," Acting Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam
said.

     The pandemic situation continues improving consistently during the last
three months in the division amid declining passivity and casualty rates and
rising recovery rate.

     Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 7.07 percent on
Monday, 2.17 percent on Sunday, 1.33 percent on Saturday, 3.57 percent on
Friday, 1.89 percent on Thursday and 3.77 percent on Wednesday last in the
division.

     "The district-wise break up of total 55,528 patients include 12,505 of
Rangpur, 3,822 Panchagarh, 4,458 of Nilphamari, 2,745 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646
of Kurigram, 7,660 of Thakurgaon, 14,824 of Dinajpur and 4,868 of Gaibandha
in the division," he said.

     Meanwhile, no Covid-19 patient died during the last 24 hours ending at 8
am today in the division where the total number of casualties remained steady
at 1,244.

     The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.

     The district-wise break up of the 1,244 fatalities stands at 293 in
Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 254 in Thakurgaon, 327 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.

     Meanwhile, the number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 53,359 with
the recovery of 14 more patients on Tuesday raising the average recovery rate
to 96.09 percent in the division.

     The 53,359 recovered patients include 11,590 of Rangpur, 3,680
Panchagarh, 4,362 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,350
Thakurgaon, 14,430 in Dinajpur and 4,795 Gaibandha districts in the division.

     Among the 55,528 patients, 37 are under treatments at isolation units,
including nine critical patients at ICU beds and six at High Dependency Unit
beds, after recovery of 53,359 patients and 1,244 deaths while 888 are
remaining in home isolation.

     "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-
19 vaccine rose to 64,69,906, and among them, 36,94,552 got the second dose
of the jab till Tuesday in the division," Dr Islam added.

     Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
the Covid-19 situation is improving in recent months in the division.

     "However, common people should abide by the health directives to prevent
further spread of the deadly virus during the winter season in the division,"
he said.
