Ex-president of Khulna Press Club Shahabuddin Ahmed passes away

KHULNA, July 3, 2021 (BSS) - Shahabuddin Ahmed, a senior journalist and former president of Khulna Press Club (KPC) passed away in the early hours of today in the capital’s Ever Care Hospital due to old-age complications.He was 82.

Shahabuddin Ahmed has been suffering from a number of ailments including kidney diseases since long and breathed his last at the hospital around 4.15 am today, family sources said.

He was an unmarried person. He left behind his three brothers, six sisters, a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

He was buried at Banani graveyard after holding a namaz-e-janaza at the Central Mosque of Bashundhara residential area in the city after Zohr prayers.

Sahabuddin, started his career as a English teacher of Khulna Model School.

Later, he worked at the english daily ‘The Pakistan Don’ and ‘The Daily Wave’, ‘Bangladesh Times’, ‘The Holiday’, ‘The Financial Express’ and ‘The Daily Independent’ in his 49-year long career as a journalist.

He was elected four times president of Khulna Press Club (KPC) and has been honoured life-term member there after his retirement in 2008.
