KHULNA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - In a unique initiative in Dumuria Upazila of Khulna, all land-related services will now be available from a unified platform, which is expected to benefit the public significantly.

While inaugurating the service today, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam emphasized that the online land management services will enhance the quality of service and reduce public harassment.

A major step toward this vision was taken on Tuesday with the formal inauguration of two privately-managed "Dumuria Land Service Support Centres."

These centres are specifically designed to offer simplified, secure, and corruption-free land services to the marginalized population.

The DC said that citizens can now access all land services-including land development tax payments, mutation, certified copies of land records (Khatian), and mouza maps-through a single platform.

The digitization of land management will improve transparency and accountability, thereby minimizing delays and corruption, he said.

Steps have been taken to ensure land-related services in less time with low costs, he added, noting that such initiatives will significantly benefit the people and mark a new chapter in transparent and citizen-friendly land administration.

At the inauguration event, organizers stated that local residents will now be able to conveniently access services such as land tax payment, certified copies (porcha), deed verification, mutation, and records of rights (Khatian) at government-fixed minimal fees.

Applications can also be submitted online, reducing the time and physical visits to government offices.

Local citizens are hopeful that the new centers will eliminate the need to wait in long queues or rely on middlemen at land offices, ultimately saving both time and money.

This is the first privately managed land service center of its kind in Khulna District, organizers said, adding it would build a strong bridge between government institutions and citizens.

The Government of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Land have already welcomed this initiative and adopted a policy decision to expand the model nationwide. Licenses will gradually be issued to establish similar centers in all upazilas.

The event was attended by a wide range of local officials and community members.

Before the event, officials including the deputy commissioner visited various local land offices and participated in a discussion meeting chaired by Dumuria UNO Muhammad Al Amin.
