GAIBANDHA, June 22, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a function here today underscored the need for ensuring safe food for all to build a healthy nation and protect people from various diseases and physical ailments.
They said there is no alternative to safe food for peaceful survival in the world, as unsafe food is a growing cause of non-communicable diseases, including high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes.
Therefore, everyone should consume safe food to live without risk. Awareness activities must be expanded to educate common people about the importance of safe food consumption, they added.
They made the remarks while addressing a workshop for food inspectors working in municipalities, upazilas, and district town offices.
The district office of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority organized the event at the auditorium of the Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry this afternoon.
Additional District Magistrate Al Mamun formally inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, while Assistant Director of the local Food Safety Office, Mohammad Milon Miah, presided over the function and delivered a welcome speech.
Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon Office Dr. Rezwan Ahmed and Advocate Abdul Halim also addressed the function, among others.
In his speech, the chief guest urged the food inspectors to be more serious and professional in discharging their duties to help build a country free from adulterated food in the days ahead.
Over 20 food inspectors from different offices took part in the workshop.
