THAKURGAON, June 22, 2025 (BSS) - Thakurgaon Natya Samity, a 115-year-old cultural organisation, got a new committee today after two decades.

At the advice of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the new committee was formed at a general meeting of Natya Samity held after almost two decades with the aim of reviving the old organisation.

Professor Mantosh Kumar Dey, Mirza Faisal Amin, Khoda Baksh Dablu and other members of the Samiti spoke at the meeting at its meeting room with its president Advocate Balram Guha Thakurta in the chair.

The speakers recalled the international theatre personalities associated with this organisation, including Padma Shri awardee actress Tripti Mitra of undivided India and Jaya Bachchan, and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

They also stressed taking necessary steps to make the organisation as active and dynamic as before and bringing its traditions back. 

After the discussion, the new committee of the Thakurgaon Natya Samiti consisting of 21 members was unanimously announced. 

The committee members are: Advocate Balram Guha Thakurta (President), Mirza Faisal Amin (Vice President), Fazle Elahi Mukut Chowdhury (General Secretary), Ahmedur Rahman Kajal (Assistant General Secretary) and Members Principal Mantosh Kumar Dey, Abdul Latif, Pratyush Kumar Chartaji, Roop Kumar Guha Thakurta, Principal Rajiur Rahman, Md. Abdus Saud, Himanshu Chandra Chanda, Advocate Anjamul Haque Arju, Heroic Freedom Fighter Shankar De Dhara, Lutfar Rahman Mithu, Azmat Rana, Mashrequl Arefin, Shanti Hossain, Satya Prasad Ghosh, S, M Jasim, Khodabox Double and Md Shaheen. 

Thakurgaon Natya Samity was established in 1910 on one acre of land in Thakurgaon. This traditional organisation has its own auditorium, theater stage and office room.
