GOPALGANJ, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including a traffic constable were killed and 15 others injured in a collision involving five vehicles on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj early this morning.
The deceased were identified as Rafiquzzaman, an Assistant Traffic Sub-Inspector (ATSI) of Bhatiapara Highway Police and Selim Hossain Bepari, a helper of an Arman Transport bus.
The fatal accident occurred around 4.00 am in front of the Gopinathpur police investigation center.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a Khulna-bound passenger bus of Baleshwar Transport, departed from Dhaka crashed into a stationary truck parked beside the highway.
Simultaneously, two other buses belonging to Arman Transport and SP Green Line and a private car, all traveling in the same direction, became involved in the pile-up.
Fire service personnel responded promptly to the scene, rescuing the injured and rushed them to the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj.
M. Maksudur Rahman, in-charge of the Gopinathpur Police Outpost confirmed the incident.
"All the vehicles involved in the accident have been seized and further investigation is underway," he said.
