KHULNA, June 12, 2025 (BSS) – Khulna City Unit of the BNP has taken various steps to make the upcoming primary membership collection and renewal campaign of the party a success.

A preparatory meeting to this end was held yesterday (Wednesday) in a city hotel.

While presiding over the meeting, Khulna City Unit BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona said that BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman had proposed a 31- point outline for state reform.

“There is no alternative to these reforms to rebuild the destroyed state structure…These 31-point contain all the essential elements for repairing the state,” he said.

In this connection, he said the 31-point reform plan reflects the aspirations of all pro-democratic political parties who resisted past autocratic regimes.

Regarding the interim government’s reform proposal, he said reform is a continuous process, and the current government can't implement all the reforms, as it is a short-term and unelected administration.

“Their primary responsibility is to implement the essential reforms required for holding a free, fair, and neutral election and then hand over power to the elected public representatives as early as possible,” he added.

Among others, City Unit General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, BNP leaders Sheikh Sadi, Masud Parvez Babu, Hasanur Rashid Chowdhury Miraj, K.M. Humayun Kabir, Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Moni, Murshid Kamal, Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Molla Farid Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Asad, Sheikh Imam, and Advocate Halima Akhtar Khanam, addressed the meeting.

To ensure the success of the campaign, a sub-committee was formed with Khulna City Unit BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin as its convener.

The committee members included Sheikh Sadi, Masud Parvez Babu, Hasanur Rashid Chowdhury Miraj, Presidents and General Secretaries of five thana-level BNP units, and presidents/ conveners and general secretaries/member secretaries of affiliated and associate bodies.

Moreover, City Unit BNP's Organizing Secretary Sheikh Sadi was given responsibility for three units under Khanjahan Ali Thana, six units in Daulatpur Thana, and two units in Khalishpur Thana.
