All set to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in Khulna

KHULNA, June 6, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC), district administration, and other concerned organizations have taken extensive preparations to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha tomorrow (Saturday) in the city with due religious fervor and enthusiasm.

The main Jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha will be held at the Circuit House Eidgah at 7:30am. In case of inclement weather, the main congregation will be shifted to Khulna Town Jam-e-Mosque at the same time. Two additional Jamaats will also be held at the same mosque at 8:30am and 10am.

Eid prayers will also be offered at the Model Mosque located adjacent to the Alia Madrasa at 7:30am.

Besides, KCC, in coordination with ward-level officials, has made arrangements to organize Eid congregations at all wards under its jurisdiction. Other major congregations will be held at Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), and Baitun Nur Jame Mosque.

To ensure a successful and smooth celebration, KCC is extending cooperation for organizing and decorating about 80 Eid Jamaat venues across the city.

The district administration has also taken comprehensive measures to observe the holy occasion with solemnity. As part of the programme, the national flag will be hoisted atop all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings in the morning and lowered before sunset.

Key roads, intersections, footpaths, and the Circuit House grounds have been decorated with national flags and banners bearing greetings of "Eid Mubarak" in Bengali and Arabic.

Special meals will be served in hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, Chotomoni Nibash, social disability centres, children development centres, safe homes, shelter homes, and welfare centres for vagrants and destitute persons.

The Islamic Foundation will organize seminars and discussions highlighting the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Azha.

Law enforcement agencies will ensure strict security across the city. Activities such as fireworks, firecrackers, blocking roads with temporary stalls, loud music, beating drums on pickups or trucks, splashing coloured water, and reckless motorcycle riding will remain strictly prohibited.

The district administration has urged city residents to perform animal sacrifice only at designated spots and clean the areas afterward using bleaching powder to prevent environmental pollution, garbage accumulation, and waterlogging.

KCC has selected 141 designated spots for the slaughtering of sacrificial animals across all wards of the city. City dwellers have been urged to use only these approved locations in the greater interest of public health and environmental safety.

KCC has undertaken a comprehensive waste management plan to remove sacrificial animal waste within the night following Eid day. All leaves of officers and employees of the conservancy department have been cancelled to ensure uninterrupted waste management activities, KCC Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tazul Islam confirmed.

Cleaning operations will commence at 11:00am on Eid day, and two water tanks will be deployed from 12:00pm to wash and sanitize roads to remove animal blood and waste.

In addition, vigilance teams and mobile courts are active at cattle markets, launch terminals, bus stations, and railway stations. Closed-circuit cameras and checkpoints have been installed at key points throughout the city to maintain law and order.

Business establishments, banks, and financial institutions have been instructed to ensure their own security, and are advised to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies if necessary.
