BAGERHAT, June 4, 2025 (BSS) - As part of heightened security measures ahead
of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) West Zone has
launched comprehensive operations to ensure the safety of waterways and key
transport points across the southwest coastal districts.
Security initiatives are underway at major launch terminals, Kheya ghats and
ferry ghats in Mongla and Sharankhola of Bagerhat, Rupsha, Koyra and Nalian
in Khulna and Kaikhali in Satkhira districts.
To safeguard public travel, the BCG is conducting intensified patrols, public
awareness campaigns through loudspeaker announcements (miking), distribution
of leaflets and thorough searches of suspicious persons and vessels.
Passenger bags are also being scanned as part of the enhanced security
measures.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid, media officer of the Coast Guard, told
BSS, "These operations are being carried out 24 hours a day to ensure the
safety and security of all passengers. This initiative will continue even
after Eid-ul-Azha to maintain public safety."
