Human Chain at Ctg demands prevention of plastic pollution

CHATTOGRAM, June 1, 2025 (BSS) - Civil society organizations in Chattogram, dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues, formed a human chain today at the city's Lalkhanbazar Ispahani crossing to demand prevention of plastic pollution to mark World Environment Day. 
 
The programme was organized under the theme "No more plastic pollution" by Sanak-TIB Chattogram in cooperation with non-governmental development organizations to raise awareness about protecting the environment. 
 
Sanak-TIB, Chattogram President Engineer Delwar Hossain Majumder presided over the programme.

Piku Das Joy, program officer of Lawn Bright Bangladesh Forum, Arefatul Jannat, project manager of Distressed Support Center (DSK), Panna Sen of YWCA and Sanjay Biswas, assistant Prof of Law at Premier University Chattogram along with members of SANAC-TIB Chattogram participated at the event.
 
Addressing the human chain, Engineer Delwar Hossain emphasized the need for immediate action to combat the harmful effects of plastic pollution. 
 
"If Bangladesh aims to be free from plastic pollution by 2040, a specific roadmap must be created. The availability of alternative plastic products must be ensured and recyclable systems must be encouraged," he added.
