KHULNA, June 01, 2025 (BSS) - The World Milk Day 2025 was observed in Khulna in a befitting manner today. 

Marking the Day, an awareness seminar was held at the auditorium of the Divisional Livestock Office in Khulna. 

Under the theme "Let's unite in the Power of Milk, the event organized by the Khulna District Livestock Office and supported by the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP).

Speaking as the chief guest, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar said that there is no better food than milk for global nutrition and building an intelligent and capable nation. 

He noted that most children and even many parents, lack accurate knowledge about the nutritional benefits of milk, which leads to an increasing inclination toward fast food. As a result, children are missing out on essential nutrition. 

He suggested that awareness campaigns be conducted in educational institutions to inform students about the benefits of milk.

Addressing farmers, he acknowledged their role in fulfilling the nation's nutritional needs and urged them not to adulterate milk. 

He also called on veterinary doctors at the field level to provide proper advice and treatment to farmers and their livestock.

Dr. Nurullah Md. Ahsan, director of the Divisional Livestock Office presided over the seminar, while Dr Md. Abdur Rahim, principal of Dumuria Institute of Livestock Science and Technology and Dr A B M Zakir Hossain, deputy director of the Divisional Livestock Office, addressed as distinguished guests.

Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Khulna District Livestock Officer, delivered the welcome speech.

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out in the city, starting and ending at the District Livestock Office premises.
