CHATTOGRAM, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - BNP National Executive Committee Chattogram Divisional Assistant Organizing Secretary Barrister Mir Md. Helal Uddin today said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam was proclaimer of independence and founder of multi-party democracy.
Helal said Shaheed Zia was the elected President of Bangladesh, a brave freedom fighter, army chief and the founder of multi-party democracy in Bangladesh.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at the Khatme Quran and Doa Mahfil organized by Chattogram Metropolitan Jubo Dal on the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in front of the Shaheed Zia Memorial Museum in the city's Kazir Dewri, on Thursday.
Mir Helal said that the leader of the democratic people of Bangladesh, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has repeatedly made it clear that BNP continues to support the interim government in the interest of establishing a government accountable to the people through the people's vote.
He said that the only way to overcome the current political crisis in Bangladesh is to quickly announce an election road map. It is possible to overcome the political crisis in the country through this announcement.
Earlier, Khatme Quran, Doa Mahfil and special munajat were conducted with the participation of more than a thousand students from various madrasas and orphanages in the city, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and the late Arafat Rahman Koko and wishing sound health and long life of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman
Former President of Chattogram City Jubo Dal Mosharraf Hossain Dipti presided over the function while former senior vice president of the City Jubo Dal Iqbal Hossain, former vice president SM Shah Alam Rob, Shahed Akbar, Fazlul Haque Sumon, Abdul Karim, Mia Md. Harun and former joint secretary Md. Selim Khan among others addressed the function.
