Ctg airport conducts full-scale security drill to intensify emergency response

CHATTOGRAM, May 29, 2025 (BSS)-A full-scale security exercise titled “Airport Security Exercise 2025’ was held at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport today.

 At least 12 government agencies including the armed forces participated in the drill.
 
The exercise aimed to enhance the preparedness of airport personnel in safely evacuating passengers and deactivating or recovering bombs if a bomb or bomb-like object is found on an aircraft as well as to test the response of various emergency agencies to aviation incidents.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) initiated the function.
 
The exercise demonstrated the process after receiving information that a bomb was on a flight from Dubai. The airport control tower informed the concerned authorities, and after safely evacuating the passengers and crews, the bomb disposal team of the Air Force recovered and defused two bombs. 
 
The exercise utilized the Air Force’s transport aircraft AN-32 and helicopter MI-17.

Following the safely evacuation of the passengers, one injured passenger was airlifted to a specialized hospital in Dhaka. The bomb disposal team also recovered and defused two bomb-like objects. 

The exercise was attended by the Air Force, Army, Navy, Police, RAB, Ansar, Customs, Immigration Police, Fire Service, Chattogram Ma-O-Shisu Hospital, Air Force Medical Team and Airport Medical Team.

Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority Air Vice Marshal Md. Manjur Kabir Bhuiyan attended the function as the chief guest.

He underlined the importance of not only having equipment but also being prepared to ensure security. 

“All the organizations participating in today's exercise performed their duties very efficiently. With coordinated efforts, any crisis can be dealt with. He said that we have to conduct these exercises regularly as per international guidelines, so that we can take immediate and correct decisions in times of danger,” he said.
 
 He thanked all the participants and stressed the importance of such preparations for the future. 

Senior officials from the Civil Defence, Air Force, Army, Navy, local administration and various airlines were also present at the exercise.
