RANGPUR, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Ganosamhati Andolan has organized a human
chain to demand an end to discriminatory budget allocation and an increase in
the upcoming national budget for the 2025-2026 FY for Rangpur division.
The Rangpur district unit of Ganosamhati Andolon organised the human chain
and rally in front of the city's Press Club premises on Tuesday afternoon.
Rangpur district convener of the Ganosamhati Andolan Tauhidul Islam presided
over the program moderated by its publicity and office coordinator Pratyayee
Mizan.

Moon, its metropolitan unit convener Abdul Jabbar Sarkar, organizer Rubel
Ashraf, labor leaders Jobaidul Islam Jobed and Azizar Rahman, Rangpur
district convener of the Students Federation AK Kajal Roy and secretary Al
Tanzil addressed, among others.
The speakers said that even after 54 years of independence, inequality has
always been observed in the development of Rangpur division.
Although the government budget prioritizes development activities centered on
the capital and the southern region, the northern region, especially Rangpur
division, is not allocated accordingly.
As a result, the improvement of the living standards of the people of this
region, industrialization, agriculture, health and education services are
being repeatedly hampered.
Mufakhkharul Islam Moon said, "The people of Northbengal, especially Rangpur,
have been politically neglected for a long time. To resolve this inequality,
a fair share in the budget allocation must be ensured."
He said that to ensure the development of Rangpur, not only the budget but
also the political power of the people must be ensured.
Tauhidul Islam called for making the upcoming national elections
participatory and acceptable to the people and bringing the desired changes
through a democratic Constitution Reform Council.
At the end of the rally, the leaders submitted a memorandum to the Chief
Advisor through the Deputy Commissioner.
Leaders and activists of the Rangpur district and metrological units of
Ganosamhati Andolon and the general public participated spontaneously in the
program.
