SSC examinee among 3 of a family killed in Rangpur road crash

 RANGPUR, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Three members of the same family, including a female SSC examinee, were killed in a road accident at Jumma Point in Mahesha village near Mir Bailey Bridge in Kaunia upazila of the district today.
 
"The accident took place when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle from the opposite direction at the point on the Rangpur-Kurigram highway, killing all three motorcyclists on the spot at 9 am," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kawnia police station Abdul Latif Shah told BSS at 1 pm.

 The deceased were identified as Rubina Begum, 32, wife of Ashraful Islam, their son Rahmat Ali, 2, and nephew and SSC examinee Afsana Begum Sneha, 16, of Mahesha village in the same upazila.

 Police said that Ashraful Islam was going to the Kawnia Mofazzal Hossain Government High School examination center on a motorcycle in the morning with his wife, son and SSC examinee niece.

 When they reached the Jumma point in Mahesha village, a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction ran over the motorcycle.

 Rubina Begum, her son Rahmat Ali and niece Afsana Begum Sneha lost their lives on the spot. Ashraful Islam was critically injured and he was rushed to the hospital.

 "The bodies were recovered from the scene and sent to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue. However, it was not possible to seize the bus," the OC said, adding that the process of filing a case in this connection was progressing.
