CHUADANGA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - Chuadanga is grappling with an intense heat wave for the third consecutive day, recording the highest temperature in the country for two straight days.

The temperature soared to 42 degree Celsius at 3:00pm today, the highest so far this season. Relative humidity was reported at 23 percent, intensifying the heat's impact on both people and animals.

Over the past three days, temperatures have surged significantly - from 36.8 degree Celsius on May 7, to 39.7 degree Celsius on May 8, and 41.2 degree Celsius on May 9 - rising by more than 5 degree Celsius overall.

As a result, life in the district has slowed down, with residents avoiding outdoor activities during the day. Roads have become deserted, and in some areas, asphalt surfaces have begun to melt under the scorching sun.

Street vendors selling refreshments such as sugarcane juice, ice cream, and green coconut water have reported a sharp increase in sales.

Yakub Ali, a juice seller at Rail Bazar, noted that lemon and wood apple juices are now in high demand among heat-stricken passersby.

Chuadanga Meteorological Office acting officer Zaminur Rahman forecast the heat wave may continue through Sunday.
