LALMONIRHAT, May 03, 2025(BSS)-The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned two Bangladeshi nationals including an SSC candidate after eight hours detention at Patgram border of the district.
The BSF returned the two Bangladeshis through Burimari Land Port at around 2 am today after a meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The BGB conducted medical tests of both the Bangladeshi citizens before receiving them from the BSF.
BGB sources said the BSF personnel detained Rimon, son of Mustak Hossain of Patgram upazila and his maternal uncle Sajedul Islam who came to Patgram from Bogura Sadar. They were detained from sub-pillar No. 825 in Gatiarpar border area at around 6pm on Friday by the BSF. Rimon is a candidate of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination of this year.
Rimon and Sajedul were detained by the BSF while they were taking videos of a tea garden in Indian Territory from Bangladesh side, BGB sources said.
Getting information, the BGB officials took immediate steps to rescue them and convened a flag meeting. After the meeting, the Bangladeshi nationals were brought back to Bangladesh after eight hours of their detention.
Local people thanked the BGB members for their quick response to bring back the Bangladesh nationals.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Patgram Md Zillur Rahman said, the BSF officials responded immediately after they were communicated by the BGB personnel.
