Drugs worth Tk 5.60 cr destroyed in Phulbari

 RANGPUR, Nov 5, 2021 (BSS) - Smuggled drugs and narcotics substances
worth over Taka 5.60 crore were destroyed in a function held at Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB)-29 battalion headquarters in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur
today.

     BGB sources said the destroyed drugs were seized by members of different
border outposts under the BGB-29 battalion from frontier areas between
November 1, 2019 and September 30, 2021.

     The destroyed drugs included 57,974 bottles of phensedyl, 5,849 pieces
of Yaba tablets, 195 kgs of ganja, 465 bottles of foreign wine, nine bottles
of beer, 20 grams of heroin, 26,654 bottles of sex-stimulating syrup, 25,843
ampoules of injections, 673 packets of Bidi, 642 packets of fire crackers and
4,000 pieces of Vitamin B Tablets.

     Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of
Primary and Mass Education, former Minister and valiant freedom fighter
Advocate Md Mostafizur Rahman MP attended the function as the guest of
honour.

     Deputy Region Commander for Rangapur Region of BGB Colonel Md Zakaria
Hossain attended the function as the chief guest with Commanding Officer of
Phulbari 29 BGB battalion Lt Colonel Sharif Ullah Abed in the chair.

     Among others, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Dinajpur Md Moniruzzaman,
Phulbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Reaz Uddin, Additional Superintendent of
Police for Fulbari Circle Md Asaduzzaman and Md Raju Rahman of Dinajpur
Narcotics Control Department attended the function.

     Local public representatives, media workers and other officials of
Phulbari BGB-29 battalion and its members at all levels were present.
